Mauna Logo

Palm trees, snorkeling, bare feet, ocean breezes - if you’ve been dreaming of a tropical getaway or beachside wedding ceremony, you’re in the right place to find out how to make it happen! There are so many reasons Hawaii makes such an irresistible wedding destination: it’s paradise!

With eight major islands and over 125 small islands (or “islets”), there are lots of choices when it comes to planning your wedding in Hawaii, but the island of Maui is one of our very favorite. Together with the best Maui wedding planners, we’ve put together a guide to the top Maui venues and our favorite Maui wedding services.

We’ll share the inside scoop on budget-busting tips, don’t-miss sites and activities for you and your guests, and the best Hawaii wedding packages on the island.

What Makes Maui, Hawaii Different from Other Major Islands?

Just like all of the public islands in Hawaii, the island of Maui is known for its world-class beaches, unbeatable sunsets, and blend of adventure and relaxation. As the second-largest of the Hawaiian Islands, Maui is a popular travel destination for visitors who want to windsurf, go whale-watching, snorkel, or just sunbathe on the beach.

Unique to Maui is its rich history of agriculture. With everything from pineapple, coffee, and sugar plantations to avocado, bell pepper, papaya and guava fields, the fresh produce offered at farmers markets all across the island are unmatched. Every day of the week, you can find markets and farm stands, and with so many local, farm-fresh offerings, you can bet the restaurants and cafes are amazing! Don’t miss the banana bread and passion fruit butter!

When visiting Maui, be sure to stroll the streets of Lahaina, which sits on the west side of the island. The historic whaling village, established in the 1800’s, is known for its architecture, art galleries, boutiques, and cafes. Soak in the culture, arts, and flavors of this amazing place.

While other islands, such as Lanai, may feel more private, or even remote, overall, Maui offers plenty of intimate-feeling beaches and resorts where you can get away from it all. Whether you choose to book a rustic horseback ride to a sandy beach or overlook, enjoy the birds-eye perspective of a helicopter tour, or lace up your hiking boots and hit the trails, there are plenty of opportunities for adventure and once-in-a-lifetime memories on the amazing island of Maui.

Top Wedding Vendors in Maui

For your big day, having a wedding vendor team you can trust is a must. Working with a Maui wedding coordinator will help you ensure that you have access to the best Maui wedding companies. The best vendors will work seamlessly with your wedding venue to ensure access and site preparations are made, communicate with you on your preferences and budget requirements, and carry out your vision for the day so that you can relax and enjoy yourself.

That may mean ordering a traditional cake with tastes of the tropics from Ghiselani Designer Wedding Cakes or working with Chris Evans Photography for the day’s videography, or it could mean that you select a venue’s wedding package to outfit you with florals, catering, and music options for the celebration. Whatever route you and your planner go, we assure you that top-notch, professional, and world-class wedding vendors have established themselves among the best of Maui wedding services.

Types of Maui Wedding Services

Is Planning a Wedding in Maui, Hawaii a Good Idea During the Pandemic?

The COVID-19 pandemic has been disrupting travel, business, and weddings since spring of 2020 and it’s important to stay updated on all current vaccine and testing requirements while planning your event. We recommend providing this link for Maui County to your guests.

Your wedding service providers may have instituted their own precautions or requirements, and your wedding planner should be able to help you understand the actions needed to ensure safety for yourself, your guests, and Maui residents and visitors.

Luckily, we seem to be on the other side of that or close to it, and thats why working with Mauna Creative helps keep you informed of any and all local and county rules that affect your wedding.

11 Top Maui Venues that We Love!

Ritz Carlton Kapalua Maui:

Known for esteemed service and attention to detail, the Ritz Carlton Kapalua Maui is a top wedding venue. It offers a full range of onsite activities, from whale-watching to spa treatments and golfing, and has something for every kind of guest. See the Ritz Carlton Kapalua Maui wedding brochure here.

Select from the Beach House Lawn and Plantation Ballroom for your ceremony and reception - both are stunning and are sure to inspire. The Plantation Ballroom is one of our favorites on the whole island, with its silk wall coverings, 13-ft ceilings, Bohemian chandeliers, and wall sconces. Select from their onsite catering menus for dinner in the 1426-square-foot room for your guests (up to 140 in the ballroom).

With its 2137 feet of lush lawn, the Beach House Lawn is another amazing wedding space available at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua Maui. The beachfront lawn is perfect for large wedding parties and receptions, accommodating up to 500 people and providing them with panoramic views of breathtaking cliffs and bays. Learn more about the venue’s spaces here.

Brides who say “I do” at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua Maui can’t say enough good things about getting married there. One review reads, “I did not have to worry about a single detail and that allowed me to be present and soak in the day (and trip). They made planning a Maui destination wedding from afar SO easy. Everything from the food to the florals and set up was incredible. Our suite for the stay was also unbelievable. The level of service the Ritz Carlton Kapalua Maui provides is next level. I would recommend this place to absolutely everyone!” Sounds like a win to us!

Four Seasons Maui Wedding Venue:

With four outdoor spaces and 16 separate indoor spaces to choose from, the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea is keen on customization and ensuring that your wedding matches your vision. In fact, the resort limits its weddings to only one a day, to make yours extra special!

From the 500-person capacity elevated Croquet Lawn, boasting 9,000 square feet of manicured lawn to Plumeria Point, which fits 40 at its natural arbor-like point, the views of stunning Kahalawai Mountains and the Pacific Ocean are ensured at any of the wedding Four Seasons Maui outdoor spaces.

We love that the 1500-square foot Plumeria Garden location is situated in and among the elegant and gently scented plumeria trees and that the guests (up to 60) can stroll through the nearby sculpture garden. If a larger outdoor space better suits your vision for your wedding day, consider the Oceanfront Lawn, where more than 5,000 square feet allow 600 guests to witness Maui’s famous sunset while you say your I do’s.

Moving to indoor spaces, weddings at Four Seasons Maui have even more options! For a complete list of all sites, with additional photos, information, and dimensions of each space, please visit this page. Two of our favorites that offer the range of all that is possible at Four Seasons Maui include the Four Seasons Ballroom and the covered Fountain-View Terrace. With blonde wood paneling, crystal chandeliers, and 13-ft ceilings, the ballroom is a refined space with multiple configurations possible. With a maximum capacity of 750 people, it is a glamorous and impressive room, ideal for luxuriously traditional events.

The Fountain-View Terrace is an indoor-outdoor space that is perfect for intimate settings with a maximum capacity of 60 and 944 square feet of area. Overlooking fountains, palm trees, and the opulence of the resort, the setting’s gardens add to the enchanting mood.

There are three packages offered for Four Seasons Maui weddings, so that whether you’re seeking a vow renewal ceremony, an elopement package, or a full wedding ceremony package, the resort can help meet your needs. Each of these packages comes with an onsite event photographer and the personal services of a Four Seasons Maui event manager, and there are also musicians and special room rates available.

According to reviews, it is the exceptional service - both day-of and leading up to the wedding - and the gorgeous setting that sets this wedding venue apart from others. Brides mention the “stunning florals,” saying it is, “a cut above the rest and the most beautiful resort I've ever seen.” One bride even said, “At (Four Seasons Maui), they only do one wedding a day so they can focus all of their attention on you. While no resort wedding could ever be "private", the spaces Four Seasons Maui provided were intimate and significantly more private. Another plus to Four Seasons Maui is that it had direct beach access. We could easily walk down to the beach for pictures and there weren't that many people there.”

Montage Kapalua Bay Maui Wedding Venue:

The Montage Kapalua Bay’s gorgeous venue, design-oriented onsite-event staff, and fabulous accommodations make your destination wedding or Maui boutique wedding a joy. With numerous spaces for your I do’s and celebration, making your Montage Kapalua Bay wedding your own is easy-breezy.

With walking paths connecting the resort’s buildings, pools, amenities, restaurants, beaches and lawns, Montage Kapalua Bay is an ideal boutique Maui wedding venue. Check out this amazing location!

The private Cliff House at Montage Kapalua Bay can hold up to 40 people and overlooks the sparkling blue bay. Perfect for a reception of up to 200 guests, Cane and Canoe and its West Lawn is a restaurant specializing in top-quality meats, seafood, and produce from local farms. Near the pools and overlooking the Pacific is the aptly-named Pacific Lawn. This green space comfortably accommodates large events and parties of up to 1,000 people.

On the other end of the spectrum of event spaces is the Sunset Room, Lanai, and Lawn. The Sunset Room is a white and dark-wood space with intimate lighting, stone pillars, and capacity for between 30 and 150 guests. Wrapping up the numerous event spaces at Montage Kapalua Bay is The Point and Namalu Lawn. Couples saying their “I do’s” on The Point have the ultimate view and open space with limitless ocean to one side and tropical paradise on the other. For more details about these spaces, check out this page.

For ceremonies with 10 or less guests, Montage Kapalua Bay offers an Intimate Ceremony Package, which is perfect for elopements or vow renewals. Set at The Cliff House, intimate ceremonies include 6 hours of use at the event space, a non-denominational officiant, a Hawaiian lei exchange, a two-tiered wedding cake, and a Veuve Clicquot champagne toast. Options for additions include changing the location to the Point Lawn, adding a bridal bouquet and boutonniere, 2 hours of photography and videography, 2 hours of a Hawaiian musician, a romantic dinner, floral arrangements, candle lighting, and a rose petal aisle.

It’s no wonder that couples love Montage Kapalua Bay. Says one bride, “The wedding venue was breathtaking. The decor is everything I wanted even though we could only communicate via phone and email. The food was spectacular as was the service we received from our wait staff. From the moment you pull into the valet to the moment that you leave, everyone will treat you and your guests like royalty. If I could go back and do it all over again, I would change nothing!! It was worth Every. Single. Penny.”

Maui Pineapple Chapel:

The Maui Pineapple Chapel is located on the coast of Kapalua and features four separate wedding ceremony and reception spaces, from a historic chapel and garden to a stunning lawn and the intimate Ironwoods Beach. It is a classy-meets-casual space, with your fee covering the entire venue for the full day. This includes the use of the bridal suite, a small catering kitchen, indoor and outdoor bluetooth speaker system, and parking for 40 cars. Indoor weather backup options also exist, and restrooms are available for up to 150 guests.

It is important to note that the venue does not include the use of tables and chairs, and that there is a preferred vendor list. If you are interested in using a planner or vendors that are not listed on the preferred list, Maui Pineapple Chapel asks that you connect the vendors with site staff.

There are four tiered wedding packages offered by the Maui Pineapple Chapel, according to event size and needs. The Ceremony Package (not available on Saturdays) is the most basic and consists of three hours of event time at the wedding venue. The packages for 30 guests or less and for 80 guests or less both include access to the chapel and the terrace from 10am to 2am. For those who wish to hold their wedding with up to 500 guests, the available wedding package includes access to the chapel, terrace, and lawn from 10am to 2am, and also comes with a parking attendant.

What could be more romantic than a charming wedding chapel on the coast of Maui? This bride says, “This cute little chapel was gorgeous inside and out. One of the things I loved about it was being able to create the wedding I imagined. There’s so many possibilities. Everything from the lawn, to the chapel, and of course where I spent my whole day (the bridal suite) was decorated perfectly. This venue is romantic, rustic, and overall just perfect!”

Kukahiko Estate Maui:

Breathe in the ocean air at the Kukahiko Estate, a private oceanfront estate right on the coast of Maui. Whether you are planning an intimate family ceremony or imagining the reception of your dreams, this venue is considered among the most beautiful and unique on the island. Located in a residential area and boasting a rocky lava beach, the photos captured at this site are unmatched.

This bride loved the Kukahiko Estate, finding it the perfect mix of private, lush, and unique. She says, “It was actually hard not to turn around and gaze during our ceremony, even harder not to bail on our guests and just sit out on the rocks while the sun slowly set. Stunning arena, awe-inspiring photographs, priceless memories ... I'd just as readily elope here in hindsight. Kukahiko Estate is truly the most magical venue ever!”

This bride agreed, saying, “I can honestly say, the property is more massive and more beautiful than even the photos show. The lawn is perfectly manicured, the sunset on the rocks was perfect, and the way our amazing planner set everything up was way beyond our expectations.”

Sugar Beach Events Maui, Hawaii:

Sugar Beach Events is the perfect venue for couples who wish for a non-resort feel, value incredible food, and desire a sophisticated beachside location where they can start their married life together. With an indoor Grand Hall and a manicured lawn, Sugar Beach Events also opens to a white sand beach (sunset photos, anyone?).

The venue is owned and managed by world-class Chef Lee Anderson, who has called Maui home since 2004. Chef Lee and her team usually provide the catering services at Sugar Beach Events and the venue can accommodate a maximum of 300 people. Sugar Beach events has a preferred vendor list, and if you want a vendor who is not on that list, prior approval is required.

Chef Lee offers several catering packages at Sugar Beach Events, each with incredible options for appetizers, courses, and desserts. The Silver Plate package is $94 and includes 3 passed appetizers (we’ve got our eyes on the bacon-wrapped ginger soy scallops!), a first course, and a second course. The Gold Plate package, at $100, includes 4 passed appetizers, a first course, and two second course options. For $110 a head, couples can select the Platinum Plated Package, which includes a selection of 4 amazing appetizers, one first course, and two second course options, and we are absolutely drooling.

There are also two buffet menus available Sugar Beach Events - the White Sands Buffet and the Diamond Buffet. The White Sands Buffet, at $84, includes 3 passed appetizers, and a buffet featuring a butter lettuce salad, taro rolls, wok-firedired Shoyu, sesame vegetable medley, vegetable fried rice, mashed potatoes, whiskey chive chicken, Parmesan crusted fresh catch piccata OR blackened fresh catch with mango chutney. The Diamond Buffet option, for $97, includes 4 passed appetizers and a buffet that features a shaved seasonal vegetable salad, butternut squash ravioli, jasmine lemongrass scented rice, roasted vegetables, herbed pork loin, marinated walu, and sweet soy drizzle New York strip steak with sweet onion reduction. View the full Prize Fixe Menu here

Every review of Sugar Beach Events that we came across expressed appreciation for the incredible dining fare, as well as the stunning views at this wedding venue. One bride said, “The view for the ceremony and dinner was absolutely breathtaking, from the moment we walked in you could see the ocean which is exactly what we pictured for our special day. The food was wonderful and all family still talks about how delicious it was that night. Chef Lee and her team executed beautifully plated appetizers and enjoyable entrées throughout the night. The cake was a beautiful mix of tropical and island flavor! We were so happy we were able to take some home to really enjoy it.”

Another bride agrees. “My husband and I were looking for a private venue that was right on the beach, but also wanted the option to have the reception to be indoors. We were visiting Maui in July and made an appointment to come see the wedding venue and we were just blown away by how beautiful the garden and building itself was. … Lastly, the food that we chose were show stoppers. All of our guests loved all the cocktail food, kudos to Chef Lee for an amazing spread of delicious bites throughout the evening!”

Olowalu Plantation House:

The Olowalu Plantation House, built in 1922, emerged as a wedding venue following its last harvest in 1998, and has served as the backdrop for love stories for visitors and Maui residents alike. The venue is known for its incredible backdrops for photos (think ocean, trees, rocky shores, unmatched sunsets, and a historic house) and is an amazing fit for couples who value the privacy of a non-resort wedding.

In addition to a lanai and a large lawn for the ceremony and reception, which can hold up to 200 people, the property features a house that can accommodate about 20 people and is typically where the bridal party gets ready. Visit this page to access the approved vendor list for Olowalu Plantation House.

Whether you’re looking for an intimate elopement at a historic and scenic Hawaiian venue or dreaming of a big celebration on a smooth green lawn with lawn games and dancing, there’s an option for you at Olowalu Plantation House. Daily rentals of the venue are available (rates differ for Monday-Thursday events and for Friday-Sunday events), and prices increase as group sizes increase. Learn more here

For those who only wish for weekday partial-day rentals, Olowalu Plantation House has options for you as well! There’s an early-evening package, with venue rental from 10am - 7:30 pm, as well as a 10 am - 2 pm option, and a 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm option.

Brides rave about the beauty of this venue, saying, “There is no venue quite like Olowalu Plantation House. The pictures are always striking but nothing can compare to what it looks like in person. It is a private plantation-style estate with a sprawling green lawn and several palm trees directly on the ocean. The area gets plenty of sun, has tons of space, and is on one of the driest areas of Maui with great sunsets, not far from Lahaina. There are plenty of beautiful venues but Olowalu is so quiet, friendly, beautiful, and bright.”

Another bride agrees, saying, “The reason we chose (Olowalu Plantation House) over and above any beautiful resort on Maui - and there are lots to choose from - was because mainly we wanted a private, intimate ceremony and reception (in the same place) in a beautiful more natural setting with unobstructed view of the ocean! Olowalu is amazing and magical and guarantee it will exceed your expectations like it did ours.”

Andaz Maui Wedding Venue:

From the minute we arrived the grounds until our final Aloha, our every need was met. Hawaii honeymooners, definitely check out this hotel!”

Located on the Eastern shore of Maui, Hana-Maui is an oasis for relaxation and adventure, with hiking trails, sightseeing, and even a black sand beach nearby. Offering eight spaces for your ceremony and reception, including both indoor and outdoor facilities, this venue is the definition of where seclusion and luxury meet.

The Library is a centrally-located space measuring 453 square feet that can accommodate up to 20 guests for dinner or 30 guests for the reception. The Queen Ka’ahumanu Room accommodates 40 guests for dinner or the ceremony and 45 guests for the reception and is a 550-square foot space with air conditioning in the lobby of The Restaurant.

We especially love the Guest House, which is located off-property and measures 825 square feet and accommodates up to 60 guests for dinner and 75 guests for the reception or ceremony. It is manicured and private and features a dining room, living room, lanai, and beautiful plantation lawn. Located next to the infinity pool and with natural implements including a stone floor, authentic stone torches, and a firepit, the Poolside Lanai is a 1,015-foot space that can accommodate up to 70 guests for dinner or 100 guests for the reception. The Restaurant steps out onto the lanai, provides incredible views of Hana Bay, and can accommodate up to 150 guests for dinner or 200 guests for the reception.

The secluded and intimate feel of Hana-Maui resort is touted by brides as among the tip-top in terms of beauty and personalization. This bride says, “There are so many beautiful venue sites on the grounds at the Hana-Maui. We hosted an event at the infinity pool and then got married seaside on the ocean lawn followed by a reception surrounded by lush jungle at the guest house. The food was spectacular and the food service was 5-star. You and your guests are the top priority of the hotel as they only book one wedding per weekend. The guest experience was superb. There are few places in Hawaii that remain untouched by time and the Hana-Maui is one of them. We can’t say enough good things about the beautiful location but even more so the people there and in Hana town who made our wedding weekend completely unforgettable.”
